I love a YA book so I was really interested in what lay ahead for me
This is a story about Noori and Aamir. A story about grief, family, and the unexpected turns life can take. A story of first love.Noori has it all sussed out. She may only be sixteen and a Bollywood fanatic with an incredible lack of foresight, but she knows a thing or two about life and its messy heartaches. When she runs into Aamir, a scruffy desi dude with tea-stained eyes, her confused soul turns upside-down. There is something about him she can’t work out.Aamir is trying to escape a misunderstood and painful past. When his world collides with Noori’s, life gets even more complicated. Invisible threads connect them. Will they both realise what’s at stake, before they run out of time?
Did you know that before I start reading a book I always read the acknowledgements first. I think it’s because I like to see what was behind the author’s decision to write the book and see where the inspiration came from. And this book was no different. So when I started this book I knew where the book came from. By the time we have finished reading chapter 1 we already knew Noori’s backstory and by the end of chapter 2 Aamir’s back story had been revealed.
And these are two completely different characters.
This is a book about love, friendship and family and coping with grief, all in one book. The concept was beautiful and the way the story flowed over seven days was a masterpiece in showing how chaotic life can be when revealing new history you never knew about. I love it when books are told from the characters point of view and this was no different as we get to see Noori’s and Aamir’s point of view.
As the book goes on we get to see what expectations families have for their younger members. And how they are torn between doing what their families want and doing something that makes them happy. What is nice is that these 2 young characters find something in each other that they can trust and like.
I really enjoyed this and YA lovers will definitely enjoy this book.
