I loved the first book, Ivy Newt and the Storm Witch, and I couldn’t wait for the next one.
So the first thing you notice is the wonderful map, as a reader who loves maps this was perfect. So I picked this book up
Every Halloween at sunrise, a spooky haunted house appears near Newt Castle, only to disappear again at the stroke of midnight. Ivy and Tom set out to solve the mystery, stumbling upon an imprisoned witch, a powerful sorcerer and a curse they must break before time runs out . . . The second in a fast-paced adventure series for emerging readers, set in the magical world of Miracula. With wonderful, dramatic black and white illustrations throughout, enhancing the atmosphere of wizardry, peril and fun.
We welcome Ivy and her familiar Tom back with a spooky adventure perfect for Halloween. The story was so good and I loved everything about it. The characters are great and likeable. Everytime I read this series I come away wanting a familiar.
This series is ideally suited for 5 years plus, these are the children that are starting to become more confident readers and are progressing from picture books. This book has a bigger font, shorter chapters and there is a picture on each page.
This is a lovely series and I’m looking forward to where the series goes.
Great review 😊
